Christmas Cards From Graphic 45's Nutcracker Sweet!

Just a quick card-making post to get you in the spirit of the Season...

Graphic 45 put out a gorgeous scrapbooking paper collection this year cleverly called Nutcracker Sweet. It's chuck full of yummy candy images mixed in with beautiful graphics from the Nutcracker ballet.

I purchased the 8x8 paper pad to make Christmas cards with from Butterfly Papercrafts. The colors are stunning, and generally not typically Christmas-y. I particularly like the purple tones with the green.

I pulled out my box of Christmas scrapbooking goodies... My favorite new treasures are the old-fashioned tinsel ribbon, so I decided to use it on every card.
Here's what my workspace looks like, now that I've pulled everything out to get the scrapbooking mojo going: I decided to use a pack of Martha Stewart stationary cards that I found on sale, because it had pretty envelopes that were trimmed in green. The only problem was, that the cards were one-sided, like a postcard. I didn't notice that when I ran to the check-out counter delighted that I had scored a deal. No worries...It just meant that I'd have to glue-on the cover paper differently. I think I mentioned before how perfect Zip Dry is for this type of application. One of my favorite products. It dries quickly and is a lot less expensive than most adhesives. I upcycled some cardstock from the backing of some scrapbooking supplies that I had saved, and punched out some tags. Then I went to work... I attached the tinsel ribbon with my Tim Holtz Mini Attacher (until I went to fill it and it broke on me! Grrrrr!) The most fun part was matching the papers with the graphic images and sentiments. So here's a little Christmas card-making inspiration: Love the cheerfulness of this Candy Cane-themed one! And here's a softer-toned one- Oh this one is fun because I used a Christmas gift tag saved from the year before...love to repurpose & upcycle! I wrapped the tinsel around the old tag & popped it up with 3-D foam dots. Isn't that cute? Each card got a sentiment stamped on the inside... I kept it to a minimum, because I want plenty of space to write my notes to the special recipients. Next I stamped my "signature" on the backs of the cards and a greeting on the flaps of the envelopes. Oh wait...I have one more. This one is vertical and so pretty... Well, I had better get back to it...Christmas will be here before you know it!
